NZ All of Government Service Innovation Lab

Service Designer
I was Service Designer in the LabPlus team in the All of Government Service Innovation Lab, which is hosted by the Department of Internal Affairs. Working across agencies public and private to help make government services better for New Zealanders.

The Service Innovation Lab provides a space for testing out new concepts for delivery of public services through the lens of life events. They bring together agencies and work with them to identify opportunities, conduct design research, co-design and support the creation of integrated services.

My role as a Service Designer was fast-paced and varied, involving workshop facilitation, user research and testing, design research, creation of designed outputs including UI and UX elements, among many other things.

This role involved customer research and workshop facilitation with food businesses and local council Environmental Health Officers across New Zealand, understanding their unique needs and designing services to meet them. I also worked on graphic and service design for the Simply Safe & Suitable Template Food Control Plan and other outputs related to food safety.
We created videos, simple plain language regulations and guidance, tools and templates for food businesses to help make their experience under the new Food Act simpler.
